Where is Clatskanie located?
Clatskanie is conveniently located 15-38 miles from Longview, WA, St. Helens, Astoria, and Veronia, OR, for shopping recreation and outdoor experience.
The Clatskanie downtown is only 5 blocks away, but shopping and the post office are just a block away from the property.
When I move in, do I have to change doctors?
No, when you move into The Amber, you retain your Primary Care Provider (PCP). Actually, before you move in, we are in conversation with your PCP regarding all your health-related needs to ensure your optimal well-being.

Food is important to us. What are your meals like?
We are happy to say that all three daily meals are homemade, including our soup. Our meals are nourishing, varied, and appealing. We willingly provide modified diets as ordered by your PCP. One feature that we offer is our salad bar—a tasty variety of greens, bean salads, seasonal vegetables, the ubiquitous fruited Jell-O, and pudding.
Are the apartments furnished?
No you are able to bring your own furniture and décor to personalize your apartment to make it your home.
Are pets allowed?
Absolutely! We are a pet-friendly community and we recognize the importance of pets. The pet deposit consists of $500 and we have a $25 monthly fee.
Is the staff specially trained?
Yes, we have pre-hire orientation training and post hire training as well as ongoing care training. The Amber provides on-site 24-hour care team provides individualized services to our residents based upon their assessed needs.
How will you get to know me/my loved one?
It's very important to us to know each person who lives here. We do a social history on each resident. We strive to meet with family to learn more about the background of all who live with us. We pride ourselves on becoming extended family to our residents.
Do you have any activities?
Yes, it is very important to have a wide variety of activities and scheduled exercises. We also hold social events to encourage a sense of community.
Speaking of community, will we be able to participate still in outside activities as well?
Absolutely! Scheduled transportation is available to help with getting you out for your shopping and social needs.
Do residents have a say in the community they live in?
We hold Resident Council meetings monthly as well as Food Committee meetings. The residents have a voice in decisions made for the facility and dining services.
What is the role of family members?
We encourage family to visit any time and love when they participate with us in activities and events. Family volunteerism is very important to the community. We want the family to stay proactive in the care decisions of their loved one.
